Planful pricing (2026): what's verified, and what isn't

Planful publishes no prices, and the third-party numbers don't agree with each other. Here's the one benchmark we'd anchor on, the estimates we wouldn't, and the new Claude connector.

$40,352Vendr median / year
$9,565–$69,031Vendr low–high range
73purchases in Vendr's data
15%avg. savings vs. first quote

1. The short answer

Planful is quote-only. The best independent number we have is Vendr's: a median of $40,352 a year across 73 purchases, ranging from $9,565 to $69,031, with buyers saving about 15% versus the first quote [1]. That puts Planful above Datarails, Vena and Cube and well below Pigment ($74,000) [8] and Anaplan ($114,609) [7] — see the pricing table.

2. Verification status, line by line

Every claim on this page sits in one of three buckets: verified from Planful, a third-party estimate, or not published. Here's which is which:

3. Why the third-party numbers disagree

Take the Vendr page itself. Its headline is a $40,352 median with a $69,031 top of range [1]. Further down, the same page's narrative says contract values "typically range from $50,000 to $500,000+" and that 20–50 user deployments "commonly see total annual costs" of $75,000–$150,000 [1]. Both can't describe the same 73 purchases. The page header also shows "37 deals handled" next to the "73 purchases" behind the median [1].

ISV CoSell, a benchmarking firm, describes its Planful deal database as "primarily mid-market deployments between $60K and $600K in annual subscription value" [3]. We couldn't review its underlying data.

How we treat this. We anchor on Vendr's median and range because they're tied to a stated purchase count. We report the narrative ranges as unverified estimates and don't use them in our comparisons. If you've seen a recent Planful quote and can share the shape of it, email [email protected].

4. What drives a Planful quote

Planful says its subscription is tailored to "company size, user count, and selected modules" [2]. Third-party sources add detail we can't verify with Planful:

  • User tiers. ISV CoSell reports Power User seats at roughly 2.5–3.5x Business User, and Business User at 3–5x View User [3].
  • Modules. Structured Planning is typically the core, with Dynamic Planning, Consolidation, Workforce and Reporting layered on [3]. Vendr says modules bought together price better than modules added mid-contract [1].
  • Implementation. Estimates run from 30–100% of first-year subscription (Vendr) [1] to 0.8–1.5x (ISV CoSell) [3]. Either way, budget for year one at well above the subscription.
  • Timing. Vendr says Planful's fiscal year ends in January [1]. We haven't confirmed that with Planful.

5. New: a read-only Planful connector for Claude

On July 20, 2026, Planful announced its MCP Server for finance [5]. What's documented [4][5]:

  • Claude today. "Today: Claude. Next: ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini." No date for the others.
  • Read-only by design. The AI "can't write back, adjust a plan, or touch a number your team is accountable for."
  • Permissions first. OAuth with each user's Planful credentials; dimension security, scenario security and role-based access enforced before data leaves Planful.
  • Scope today: reports, actuals and variance data, with Spotlight and workforce data "on the way."

Not published: the endpoint, setup steps and whether the connector costs extra. Ask your rep for all three. Status is tracked in the connector tracker.

6. Negotiation checklist

  1. Anchor on the Vendr median ($40,352) and range [1], not on narrative ranges.
  2. Get per-tier seat prices (Power, Business, View) in writing and right-size each tier.
  3. Bundle the modules you'll need within 24 months into the initial order.
  4. Insist on a fixed-fee implementation SOW.
  5. Confirm in the order form whether the MCP Server and native AI assistants are included.
